Position Description

The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at the University of Mississippi (UM) invites applicants for a permanent non-tenure track faculty position at the INSTRUCTOR level to begin in August 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching surveying, civil engineering graphics, senior design, and other CE courses as needed by the Department. The instructor will also participate in department recruitment events and provide other departmental faculty services such as student career advising. This position is a nine-month (academic year), non-tenure track appointment, with promotion possibilities to the rank of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer. Instructor contracts are subject to renewal on an annual basis. 
 


UM's Department of CE consists of ten faculty members, who educate over 150 undergraduate and 23 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.). More information about the department can be found at https://civil.olemiss.edu/

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have an M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Surveyors (PS) and/or Professional Engineers (PE) licensure with a minimum of 5 years of related industry experience is preferred for this position. Competitive candidates will have demonstrable teaching ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an energetic commitment to undergraduate education. The successful candidate should be dedicated to providing high-quality, meaningful educational experiences for undergraduate students.
