Position Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Mississippi, located in Oxford, Mississippi, invites applicants for a full time, 9-month, promotion-eligible position as Instructional Faculty in the area of Forensic Chemistry to begin August 2024. The position title and rank is commensurate with degree and experience.

 

Responsibilities include teaching chemical and physical methods of forensic chemistry (criminalistics) and analytical/instrumental analysis with emphasis on trace evidence such as illicit drugs and DNA. The successful candidate will also transition into the role of forensic program coordinator, which includes maintaining accreditation with the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) and overseeing the forensic internship program.  Additional duties include advising forensic students, participating in recruiting activities, and being a faculty mentor for Delta Delta Epsilon, an international forensic science honor society.

 

The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty committed to teaching and research at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science, or closely related field and have demonstrated forensic laboratory (practitioner) experience with professional certification preferred. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science, or closely related field
