Position Description

The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation Management (HESRM) at the University of Mississippi is seeking applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position as Instructional Assistant Professor of Exercise Science. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Exercise Science or closely related field. The position may begin as early as August 2024. 

 

The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level exercise science courses (e.g. Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Foundations of Health and Human Performance, Testing and Prescription, Clinical Testing and Prescription, experiential learning/internship hours, etc.). Other duties may include assisting with student recruitment, retention, and graduation. The School of Applied Sciences, located on the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford, MS (https://olemiss.edu/), is an inclusive home to approximately 150 faculty and staff, over 2,600 students, five academic departments, two centers, and an institute. The School of Applied Sciences currently serves nine undergraduate, ten master's, and four doctoral programs (https://sas.olemiss.edu/). 

 

HESRM (http://hesrm.olemiss.edu) is home to eighteen faculty, four staff members, and approximately 900 students from around the world. HESRM currently offers three undergraduate programs (Public Health, Sport and Recreation Administration, and Exercise Science), four master's degree programs (MPH, Sport Analytics, Sport and Recreation Administration, and Exercise Science), and a Ph.D. program in Health and Kinesiology with four emphasis areas (Public Health, Sport Analytics, Sport and Recreation Administration, and Exercise Science).

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Exercise Science or closely related field. The position may begin as early as August 2024.
